Ironically, while India is promoting “International Day of Non-Violence”, Israel-India’s arms supplier- continues to ignore the United Nations Security Council’s request [see here] on 17th Sept 2015 that:

“…The members of the Security Council underscored that Muslim worshippers at the Haram al-Sharif must be allowed to worship in peace, free from violence, threats and provocations….”

Rivlin Confirms Indian President to Visit Israel the following week

Pranab Mukherjee’s state visit will focus on fields of economy, science, medicine and agriculture.

President Reuven “Ruvi” Rivlin on Tuesday confirmed that Indian President Pranab Mukherjee will visit Israel next week.

According to Rivlin, the visit will focus on the fields of economy, science, medicine and agriculture.

Mukherjee will also meet with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, opposition leader Isaac Herzog and Knesset Speaker Yuli Edelstein during his visit, as well as address a special plenary meeting of the Knesset.

Last week, Israeli ambassador to India Daniel Carmon called Mukherjee’s upcoming state visit a “landmark” in the nations’ relations, according to PTI.

“For many years, our relationship was held under the carpet. Now, they are more visible and open where each side brings to the table each other’s advantages,” Carmon told PTI. “We are so different, yet we are a combined force.”

Israel has become a major arms supplier to India since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1992.

PEACE?

It’s ironic to observe a country promoting peace and the same country to be negotiating, within a matter of weeks, a major arms manufacturing deal? So as well as dealing with Israel, India strikes a deal with Boeing – the U.S.  Both of these dealings are to do with arming India. So what is that publicity stunt picture with Ban Ki Moon really about. Is it really just to show everything effective that the UN can do – photo-shoots?
