And so did I

By Ivan J. Clark 3rd April 2015

Last night You shared a meal. And so did I.

They shared, they ate and drank. And so did I.

They said they won’t forget. And so did I.

You said your prayers last night. And so did I.

You told Your friends to love. And They said “why?”

“You came to save our souls.” And They said You lied.

“So, You’re the Son of God.” And They laughed and sighed.

“Get up You foolish man you ought to die.”

You saw another man. He washed his hands.

The crowd. They just shouted their demands.

With one word, that still rings out, “Crucify”.

The world refused Your Love. You were to die.

I fell today my Lord. And so did You.

It was sore I felt like crying. And so did You.

I got up again and sighed. And so did You.

I walked along the street. And so did You.

I saw Your face Lord Jesus. I am ashamed.

I saw Your mum’s sad face and I’m ashamed.

You said, You came to save me. I am ashamed.

For I continue sinning. I am ashamed.

They hung you on a tree. It was foretold.

They mocked, they drank; your clothes-they were sold.

I heard you say “forgive them, they know not what they do.”

Remember this, Jesus said it. So it is true.

From Your head, Your side, Your feet and Your hands

Blood came raining down unto the lands.

Your Love was twisted with thorns and stuck upon Your head.

Now boastfully man steps back to look; yes, You’re nearly dead.

You cried that night Lord Jesus. And so did I.

You looked up to the heavens. And so did I.

You said, “Father, I commend My Spirit.” And You died.

Deep in my heart Lord Jesus. And so did I.

Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.
