It is important to understand that the profession of a preacher (pastor) is the edification of the hearer. To bring the hearer into a deeper relationship with Jesus as they have the call from God to lead. And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding (Jeremiah 3:15). And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;  For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: – Ephesians 4:11-12

Satan has done the same. He has elected his pastors and teachers and evangelists for the perfecting of his Satanic ministry, however, many of his pastors don’t wear titles or live in churches. They position themselves in school textbooks and cartoons. On the movie screen where millions sit with hearts open and ready…

After Jesus had said this, he looked up to heaven and said,

“Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son, so that the Son may glorify you. For you have given him authority over all humanity so that he might give eternal life to all those you gave him.

And this is eternal life: to know you, the only true God, and the one whom you sent—Jesus the Messiah.

The coming deception – Nephilim

GodSeesEverything says the fallen angels, nephilim, are real. The greatly popularised phenomenon of ufology is the work of demons. The world will make disclosure regarding UFO’s – this is a deception by Lucifer. Remember the Vatican has already said that they would baptise aliens (see here) and that there may have to be a re-think about the gospel (see here). So even the Roman Catholic Church are part of this deception. Don’t be deceived!

And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS. And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God; That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great. And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army. And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone. And the remnant were slain with the sword of him that sat upon the horse, which sword proceeded out of his mouth: and all the fowls were filled with their flesh.

Don’t take the Mark of the Beast

GodSeesEverything says – here are the relevant biblical quotes referred  to in the clip

And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name. Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus. And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.

Rapha: Post Flood Giants From Sodom To David

Why did entire tribes of giants suddenly spring up after the flood? The very presence of giants in the Bible should make us take a second look at  what we refer to mythology, and a closer look at what we call history. Archaeology is rife with evidence that points to the reality of giants.
According to scripture, there was a  concentration of Giants within the ancient borders of Israel, that had to be  dealt with before they could possess the  land. It was in part, due to these giants, that Moses didn’t take  the Promise Land when he had the chance, that Saul lost his throne, that David became king, and that David’s men became legendary warriors for Israel.
Disclaimer: The following information is not assembled in chronological order. It is assembled in a manner that is easier to understand so that the information flows better. Most of this content was excerpted from my book, As The Days of Noah Were: The Sons  of God  and  The Coming  Apocalypse.

Who Were The Rapha?

Let’s start by looking at the two terms used in the Bible, often translated as giant and sometimes left untranslated, depending on which version you choose to read.

  • Rapha (#7497) – Singular Giant
  • Rephaim (#7497) – Multiple Giants. Adding the “im” at the end signifies a plural word in Hebrew.

While there are many people that try to get around the subject, the fact is that Rapha are repeatedly referred to in the Bible as literal giants. Let’s take a quick look at how many times the word is used as singular and as plural.

  • Giant – 8 times in 8 verses.
  • Giants – 13 times in 11 verses.

As we can see, giants are referred to 21 times, which happens to be a multiple of 7. I’m not sure if that is significant or not, but I thought I’d share. The giants were broken down into various tribes, each with a descriptive meaning to their names.

Various Tribes of Rapha

  • Emim – The fearful ones
  • Rephaim – The dead ones
  • Anakim – The long necked ones
  • Zamzummim – People who’s speech sounds like buzzing
Stone Carving of A Giant Sumerian King

Literal vs. Figurative Giants

One of the arguments put forth pushes the idea that these were not literal giants, but figurative giants. However, evidence in scripture points to the contrary.

The Sons of Anak

In Numbers 13:33 we read the account of the 12 spies that saw giants in the land. 10 of the spies gave an “evil” (bad), but not necessarily false report. The reason we know that their report was not false is because it is consistent with what we will see during the Israelite invasion of the Promised Land. Here is the account of the 10 spies:

“And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.” – Numbers 13:33

One safe assumption that we can make is that the Israelites knew who Anak was, and the mere mention of  his name struck fear in the entire congregation. The biggest element to their report is that they looked like grasshoppers compared to the sons of Anak.

If you hold the belief that this account was false, then you also have to question the following accounts of Moses, David, and God.

Og: King of Bashan

In Deuteronomy 3:11 we find the exact measurements of  Og’s bed, which gives us his approximate size. A standard cubit is 18 inches.

  • 9 cubits long x 4 cubits wide
  • 13.5 feet long x 6 feet wide

As we can see, this was not an average size bed. To give you an idea of  just how big his bed was, here are the dimensions for a California King size bed:

  • 7 feet long x 6 feet wide

While the width is the exact same, the biggest question is, why was Og’s bed almost  double the length?

Sihon:King of The Amorites

Unfortunately, we do not have an exact height for Sihon, but what we do have is a statement by God, concerning the height of the Amorites.

“Yet destroyed I the Amorite before them, whose height was like the height of the cedars, and he was strong as the oaks; yet I destroyed his fruit from above, and his roots from beneath.” – Amos 2:9

  • Is God over exaggerating about their height?
  • Is God referring to literal giants?

Those that take the position that the Israelites saw certain taller people as giants, does not hold true when we read God’s account of their height. It becomes clear that these were giants of greater stature.

Goliath: Son of The Giant

Finally, we come to Goliath. He is hands down the most famous giant in the Bible. He is the only giant that is associated with an exact height given to us in scripture. A standard cubit is 18 inches. A span is 9 inches (half a cubit).

  • 6 cubits + 1 span
  • 9 feet + 9 inches

As we can clearly see from all of the above accounts, these giants were not the result of mythology creeping into the Bible. These giants were not exaggerations. They were real giants that the Hebrews encountered while taking the Promised Land.

After David slays Goliath, he parades his head around like a trophy to show the people of Israel what God had done. This act launches David from unknown shepherd boy to national hero. David later retrieves the sword of Goliath to use as his own.

Geographical Location of Giants

Click Map To Enlarge

Click Map To Enlarge

As mentioned before, the giants inhabited the areas promised to Israel by God. The map to the right shows where the territory of some of these tribes.

Based on the terminology that we find in scripture, we know that giants were not a rare and random occurrence, but were a very real problem because they existed in large groups called tribes.

“And the rest of Gilead, and all Bashan, being the kingdom of Og, gave I unto the half tribe of Manasseh; all the region of Argob, with all Bashan, which was called the land of giants.” – Deuteronomy 3:13

That brings us to the first mention of post flood giants in the Bible. We will be using this map as we continue looking into this subject. First, let’s look at Sodom.

Rapha: Allies of Sodom and Gomorrah

If we refer to the map, we see that Sodom, Gomorrah, Zoar, and the other cities are located within the territory of the Rephaim. When the war started between the kings, Chedorlaomar turned his attention toward the Rephaim, and the other tribes of giants:

“And in the fourteenth year came Chedorlaomer, and the kings that were with him, and smote the Rephaims in Ashteroth Karnaim, and the Zuzims in Ham, and the Emims in Shaveh Kiriathaim,” – Genesis 14:5

Because this was a military strike, we have to assume that there was reason for Chedorlaomer to believe that these tribes would align with the cities on the plain to fight them. However, it is the actions that the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah take that also points to an alliance that was already in place.

“And there went out the king of Sodom, and the king of Gomorrah, and the king of Admah, and the king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela (the same is Zoar;) and they joined battle with them in the vale of Siddim; With Chedorlaomer the king of Elam, and with Tidal king of nations, and Amraphel king of Shinar, and Arioch king of Ellasar; four kings with five.” – Genesis 14:8-9

Why do the five kings come to the rescue of the Rephaim and the other tribes of giants? Once again, scripture seems to point to an alliance.

The Amorites Help Abraham

During the scuffle between the kings, Lot is kidnapped by the four kings.  It is at this point that Abraham either invokes his alliance with the Amorites or forms a new alliance with the Amorites to get back Lot.

“And there came one that had escaped, and told Abram the Hebrew; for he dwelt in the plain of Mamre the Amorite, brother of Eshcol, and brother of Aner: and these were confederate with Abram.” – Genesis 14:13

Unfortunately, we have no idea how or why this alliance was first made, but it could be an example of, “the enemy of  my enemy is my friend.” Whatever the reason was, we know that they helped him rescue Lot.

Conclusion

After the flood, we find that there are real giants on the earth called Rapha. They break down into multiple tribes and terrorize the Middle East for over 1,000 years. If you’re interested in more information about giants, check out my book,

THE TESTIMONY OF CHRIST TO THE OLD TESTAMENT

BY WILLIAM CAVEN, D. D., LL. D., Late Principal Of Knox College, Toronto, Canada

Both Jews and Christians receive the Old Testament as containing a revelation from God, While the latter regard it as standing in close and vital relationship to the New Testament. Everything connected with the Old Testament has, of recent years, been subjected to the closest scrutiny — the authorship of its several books, the time when they were written, their style, their historical value, their religious and ethical teachings. Apart from the veneration with which we regard the Old Testament writings on their own account, the intimate connection which they have with the Christian Scriptures necessarily gives us the deepest interest in the conclusions which may be reached by Old Testament criticism. For us the New Testament Dispensation presupposes and grows out of the Mosaic, so the books of the New Testament touch those of the Old at every point: In vetere testamento novum latet, et in novo vetus patet. (In the Old Testament the New is concealed, and in the New the Old is revealed). Continue reading THE TESTIMONY OF CHRIST TO THE OLD TESTAMENT

GOD IN CHRIST THE ONLY REVELATION OF THE FATHERHOOD OF GOD

BY ROBERT E. SPEER

“They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the hour cometh, that whosoever killeth you shall think that he offereth service unto God. And these things will they do, because they have not known the Father nor me.” (John 16:2,3).

These words suggest to us that it is not enough for a man just to believe in God. Everything depends on what kind of a god it is in whom he believes. It is a rather striking and surprising comparison at first that our Lord institutes here between a mere belief in God and the possibly horrible moral consequences, on the one hand, and a knowledge of God in Christ and its sure moral effects, on the other. And the lesson would seem to be the inadequacy of any religious faith that does not recognize the revelation of the Father in Jesus Christ and that does not know Jesus Christ as God. Anyone can pick up a Bible and read it. The only qualification you need to have to read the Bible is the ability to read. The more challenging piece is believing what you read to access its power. You can have a doctorate in theology and not have the ability to access the Bibles power. Accessing the power of the Bible requires faith. Believe what you read. Place yourself within the pages of Scripture as you read. Don’t resist the emotions it brings out and do not cease reading out loud. You must give confession with your mouth to bring out its power.

For example, you open the Bible and start to read 1 Corinthians 1 out loud and you read and read and read. Right around 2 Corinthians depending on how many demons have control of your life, you will feel light headed, may cough, sweat or hands may…

A Psalm of David. The fate of the upright and the wicked – Psalm 37

Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity. For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.

Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.

Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass. And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday.

Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.

Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil. For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth.

For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be. But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.

The wicked plotteth against the just, and gnasheth upon him with his teeth. The Lord shall laugh at him: for he seeth that his day is coming.

The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow, to cast down the poor and needy, and to slay such as be of upright conversation. Their sword shall enter into their own heart, and their bows shall be broken.

A little that a righteous man hath is better than the riches of many wicked. For the arms of the wicked shall be broken: but the LORD upholdeth the righteous.

The LORD knoweth the days of the upright: and their inheritance shall be for ever. They shall not be ashamed in the evil time: and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied.

But the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of the LORD shall be as the fat of lambs: they shall consume; into smoke shall they consume away.

The wicked borroweth, and payeth not again: but the righteous sheweth mercy, and giveth. For such as be blessed of him shall inherit the earth; and they that be cursed of him shall be cut off.

The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand.

I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread. He is ever merciful, and lendeth; and his seed is blessed.

Depart from evil, and do good; and dwell for evermore. For the LORD loveth judgment, and forsaketh not his saints; they are preserved for ever:

but the seed of the wicked shall be cut off. The righteous shall inherit the land, and dwell therein for ever.

The mouth of the righteous speaketh wisdom, and his tongue talketh of judgment. The law of his God is in his heart; none of his steps shall slide.

The wicked watcheth the righteous, and seeketh to slay him. The LORD will not leave him in his hand, nor condemn him when he is judged.

Wait on the LORD, and keep his way, and he shall exalt thee to inherit the land: when the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see it.

I have seen the wicked in great power, and spreading himself like a green bay tree. Yet he passed away, and, lo, he was not: yea, I sought him, but he could not be found.

Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright: for the end of that man is peace. But the transgressors shall be destroyed together: the end of the wicked shall be cut off.

But the salvation of the righteous is of the LORD: he is their strength in the time of trouble. And the LORD shall help them, and deliver them: he shall deliver them from the wicked, and save them, because they trust in him.
(Psa 37:1-40)

#WalkWithJesus and have Hope and Trust! Be true to God the Almighty Father.

The one true God – Psalm 115

Not unto us, O LORD, not unto us, but unto thy name give glory, for thy mercy, and for thy truth’s sake. Wherefore should the heathen say, Where is now their God?

But our God is in the heavens: he hath done whatsoever he hath pleased. Their idols are silver and gold, the work of men’s hands.

They have mouths, but they speak not: eyes have they, but they see not: They have ears, but they hear not: noses have they, but they smell not:

They have hands, but they handle not: feet have they, but they walk not: neither speak they through their throat. They that make them are like unto them; so is every one that trusteth in them.

O Israel, trust thou in the LORD: he is their help and their shield. O house of Aaron, trust in the LORD: he is their help and their shield. Ye that fear the LORD, trust in the LORD: he is their help and their shield.

The LORD hath been mindful of us: he will bless us; he will bless the house of Israel; he will bless the house of Aaron. He will bless them that fear the LORD, both small and great.

The LORD shall increase you more and more, you and your children.

Ye are blessed of the LORD which made heaven and earth.

The heaven, even the heavens, are the LORD’S: but the earth hath he given to the children of men.

The dead praise not the LORD, neither any that go down into silence. But we will bless the LORD from this time forth and for evermore. Praise the LORD.

SCIENCE AND CHRISTIAN FAITH

BY PROFESSOR JAMES ORR, D. D., United Free Church College, Glasgow, Scotland

In many quarters the belief is industriously circulated that the advance of “science,” meaning by this chiefly the physical sciences — astronomy, geology, biology, and the like has proved damaging, if not destructive, to the claims of the Bible, and the truth of Christianity. Science and Christianity are pitted against each other. Their interests are held to be antagonistic. Books are written, like Draper’s “Conflict Between Religion and Science,” White’s “Warfare of Science with Theology in Christendom,” and Foster’s “Finality of the Christian Religion,” to show that this warfare between science and religion has ever been going on, and can never in the nature of things cease till theology is destroyed, and science holds sole sway in men’s minds. EVOLUTIONISM IN THE PULPIT

BY  AN OCCUPANT OF THE PEW

From The Herald and Presbyter, November 22, 1911, Cincinnati, Ohio.

We reprint this excellent paper as the remarkable utterance of a Christian layman on a most important subject. — Editor

Perhaps the most remarkable movement in philosophic thought that has occurred in any age was the rise and general acceptance by scientific circles of the evolutionary theory as propounded by Darwin, Huxley and Spencer. It was remarkable that men of science, whose peculiar boast it is that they deal only with established facts, should have so readily departed from this rule and accepted a system based upon hypothesis only, and which was, and is still after the lapse of forty years, without a single known fact to support it. THE MORAL GLORY OF JESUS CHRIST A PROOF OF INSPIRATION

BY WILLIAM G. MOOREHEAD, D. D., President Of Xenia Theological Seminary, Xenia, Ohio

The glories of the Lord Jesus Christ are threefold: Essential, official and moral. His essential glory is that which pertains to Him as the Son of God, the equal of the Father. His official glory is that which belongs to Him as the Mediator. It is the reward conferred on Him, the august promotion He received when He had brought His great work to a final and triumphant conclusion. His moral glory consists of the perfections which marked His earthly life and ministry; perfections which attached to every relation He sustained, and to every circumstance in which He was found. His essential and official glories were commonly veiled during His earthly sojourn. His moral glory could not be hid; He could not be less than perfect in everything; it belonged to Him; it was Himself. This moral glory now illumines every page of the four Gospels, as once it did every path He trod. Continue reading THE MORAL GLORY OF JESUS CHRIST A PROOF OF INSPIRATION

Christ and Criticism

by Sir Robert Anderson, KCB., LLD., Author of “The Bible and Modern Criticism,” London, England

In his “Founders of Old Testament Criticism” Professor Cheyne of Oxford gives the foremost place to Eichhorn. He hails him, in fact, as the founder of the cult. And according to this same authority, what led Eichhorn to enter on his task was “his hope to contribute to the winning back of the educated classes to religion.” The rationalism of Germany at the close of the eighteenth century would accept the Bible only on the terms of bringing it down to the level of a human book, and the problem which had to be solved was to get rid of the element of miracle which pervades it. Working on the labors of his predecessors, Eichhorn achieved this to his own satisfaction by appealing to the oriental habit of thought, which seizes upon ultimate causes and ignores intermediate processes. This commended itself on two grounds. It had an undoubted element of truth, and it was consistent with reverence for Holy Scripture. For of the founder of the “Higher Criticism” it was said, what cannot be said of any of his successors, that “faith in that which is holy, even in the miracles of the Bible, was never shattered by Eichhorn in any youthful mind.” Continue reading Christ and Criticism

THE HISTORY OF THE HIGHER CRITICISM

BY CANON DYSON HAGUE, M. A.,

RECTOR OF THE MEMORIAL CHURCH, LONDON, ONTARIO. LECTURER IN LITURGICS AND ECCLESIOLOGY, WYCLIFFE COLLEGE, TORONTO, CANADA. EXAMINING CHAPLAIN TO THE BISHOP OF HURON.

What is the meaning of the Higher Criticism? Why is it called higher? Higher than what? At the outset it must be explained that the word “Higher” is an academic term, used in this connection in a purely special or technical sense. It is not used in the popular sense of the word at all, and may convey a wrong impression to the ordinary man. Nor is it meant to convey the idea of superiority. It is simply a term of contrast. It is used in contrast to the phrase, “Lower Criticism.” Continue reading THE HISTORY OF THE HIGHER CRITICISM

THE MOSAIC AUTHORSHIP OF THE PENTATEUCH

BY PROFESSOR GEORGE FREDERICK WRIGHT, D. D., LL. D., Oberlin College, Oberlin, Ohio

During the last quarter of a century an influential school of critics has deluged the world with articles and volumes attempting to prove that the Pentateuch did not originate during the time of Moses, and that most of the laws attributed to him did not come into existence until several centuries after his death, and many of them not till the time of Ezekiel. By these critics the patriarchs are relegated to the realm of myth or dim legend and the history of the Pentateuch generally is discredited. In answering these destructive contentions and defending the history which they discredit we can do no better than to give a brief summary of the arguments of Mr. Harold M. Wiener, a young orthodox Jew, who is both a well established barrister in London, and a scholar of the widest attainments. What he has written upon the subject during the last ten years would fill a thousand octavo pages; while our condensation must be limited to less than twenty. THE INSPIRATION OF THE BIBLE — DEFINITION, EXTENT AND PROOF

BY JAMES M. GRAY, D. D., Dean Of Moody Bible Institute, Chicago, Ill.

In this paper the authenticity and credibility of the Bible are assumed, by which is meant

  • (1), that its books were written by the authors to whom they are ascribed, and that their contents are in all material points as when they came from their hands; and
  • (2), that those contents are worthy of entire acceptance as to their statements of fact. Were there need to prove these assumptions, the evidence is abundant, and abler pens have dealt with it.

Morality Is The Basis Of Understanding

From ‘Role Of Morality’ a chapter of ‘A Study Of Our Decline’ by P Atkinson (January 2004)

Intelligence Is The Special Power Of Humanity

It is generally recognised that intelligence is the commodity that gives humanity its power over all other creatures, but what is not generally understood is the dependence of this facility upon a necessary foundation of unquestioned values. To grasp the meaning of any event requires using reason to apply our set of values to arrive at an interpretation of what occurred. That is, was a man’s death a good or a bad thing? Was the event an accident, a crime or the execution of justice? Our judgement must reflect our set of values. So all understanding arises from a basic set of values, or morality, which has to be part of every creature before they can understand anything.

Intelligence Allows Understanding But This Must Reflect A Morality

Because some values are supplied as part of all life, we forget that they are a value. Survive, eat, seem so obvious that such considerations seem part of the physical nature of life rather than a set of values, but this only emphasises the necessity of such values, for without them no life could exist. The combination of an ability to reason and a morality against which reason can be applied, is the essential requirements for perception.

Reason Needs Morality Like A Lever Needs A Fulcrum

Morality and reason are like a lever and a fulcrum; they can only function if they are both present. Just as a lever cannot be used to move anything unless there is a fulcrum to support the lever, reason cannot be applied unless there is a foundation of values to supply understanding. This makes the combination of reason and morality an essential part of all living things, including bacteria, insects and people.

A definition of life — “I think therefore I am alive

In other words all living things must have an understanding, which guides their behaviour, hence thinking is an essential part of being alive. The philosopher Reneé Descartes (1596-1650) stated “I think therefore I am” which is not quite correct. If a person dies and hence stops thinking, they still are, even if it is just as a corpse, and it is clear that things exist even though they do not think. Descartes words should have been “I think therefore I am alive“.

Morality Must Form Before Understanding

Morality must precede understanding because understanding can only develop after the underlying values have been formed. So the early values are the most important as they become the parent of all subsequent values; later additions though made with a more adult mind, must incorporate previous decisions as those prior decisions are beyond the force of reason. This arbitrary set of beliefs is the morality of the individual, beyond threat, promise or argument, and determines the way they see reality.

Morality Is Permanent

Morality cannot be changed by reason because to use your reason immediately means applying your values, which are your morality. This makes it impossible for people to change their founding morality. They may wish others to think they have changed their morality, but they are powerless to alter a single basic value, they cannot change their intentions, only their behaviour. A selfish person may wish to be thought unselfish but they can only form this desire if they are selfish, and nothing can reverse this crucial and early value.

Creating Human Values

In humans the set of values supplied at birth are extended by experience and upbringing; primitive instincts are built upon to form a sophisticated and complex set of beliefs. The strongest of these additions are formed in the first seven years of life (see “Early Warning On Character’ by Yvonne Martin The Sunday Mail, 16/5/1999”) and become the immutable foundations of personality.

Learnt Values Are Immutable

Imbuing values into children is like loading the software into a computer, however, unlike computers, with people it is an irreversible affair. Once the rules are set, they are set for life. Resulting behaviour may be changed, but not the driving motivations of the individual. Some people believe they can reverse a particular private value by reason or experience, but this is like claiming once the house is built the foundations can be changed; it is impossible but this myth is supported by the difficulty people have in realising their own basic values.

Our Own Basic Values Hard To Realise

My daughter was happy to inform me that a friend had just changed her mind about the death penalty. A sudden intimate association with violent crime had changed resistance into enthusiasm for capital punishment. Such a change in attitude, my offspring claimed, was experience moulding values, demonstrating that values could be altered. But in reality the initial declared value, opposing sentence of death, was incomplete. The girl had always believed that no one should be executed by the law unless private experience revealed crime posed a real threat to her own survival; the latter part of the belief being exposed only by events.

Simple Examples Of Immutable Values

An impression gained in early childhood that women cannot be trusted will not be changed by adult arguments that such a failing is only present in some women, or subsequent wide experience to the contrary. Mistrust will never be dispelled; the adult will merely expect their belief to be confirmed sooner or later. Much like being optimistic or pessimistic, the invariably random nature of events will have little lasting impact upon such attitudes; the optimist will keep expecting the best, and vice-versa. Just as those who buy lottery tickets cannot be dissuaded by rational explanation of the remoteness of success, nor by long experience of losing. They feel that next time they could well win. Personal beliefs—the morality of the individual—are not just the guiding forces of character and the interpreter of our experiences but they are immune to reason or experience.

Understanding Is Values + Reason

The combination of unchangeable values and reason are the mechanism of understanding for that is the way we recognise good and bad. Or as David Hume put it in his ‘Treatise on Human Understanding ‘:

So that when you pronounce any action or character to be [virtuous or] vicious, you mean nothing, but that from the constitution of your nature you have a feeling or sentiment of [approval or] blame from the contemplation of it. —(Bk iii, pt I, sect. I.)

And this is true not just for individuals but groups. It is the set of values (morality) adopted during infancy that dictate the nature of the adult understanding — the individual’s character; and the nature of the community’s understanding —its culture.

Basic Values Dictate The Strength Of An Understanding

As understanding is values and reason, and reason is mainly the exercise of a facility to connect cause and effect, which is almost mechanical, so reason must be considered the servant of values. Hence it is the set of values that control an understanding and so decide its strength. The significant difference between the understanding of the early Romans and their neighbours (a subject that so fascinated Polybius (200-118 B.C.) a Greek statesman, that he wrote a book The Rise Of The Roman Empire) was that of basic values (morality). The various peoples surrounding those ancient builders of civilization had the same ability to reason, access to the same technology and resources, but they became the vanquished as the Roman army conquered the world. The discipline and organisation allowed by Roman understanding created something that was superior to anything ever before seen in the world. The health, wealth and prosperity of humanity were hugely improved just by the appearance of the set of values making up Roman morality.

Roman Civilization Was Roman Understanding

Roman civilization was Roman understanding, which was founded upon Roman values. All civilizations are in effect a set of values, or morality. And like all civilizations, Ancient Rome thrived when it adhered to its basic values, it fell when it discarded them. Western Civilization is an understanding based upon the morality outlined in the bible, and it’s our adherence to this morality that controls the strength of our civilization.

Morality Is A Set Of Values Which Form The Basis Of An Understanding

There can be no intelligence, artificial or organic, that can exist without a set of values. It is an essential part of every creature’s mind, as it must be formed before that creature can use reason—understand. And this set of values is the Morality of the creature. Hence for us, Morality is not just a set of values, but a vital and permanent part of ourselves, formed in childhood before the age of reason, which dictates how we understand the world.

Dear Kim Kardashian West,

So she discovered her whoredoms, and discovered her nakedness: then my mind was alienated from her, like as my mind was alienated from her sister. -Eze 23:18

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? -Rom 8:35

I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see. -Rev 3:18

In case you haven’t turned on your TV this week, or been online or on social media at all, then I’m sure you’ve heard about what the sweetheart of “America’s First Family” did recently.

(And please, I hope you can hear the sarcasm dripping from my lips…)

But good old’ Kim K posted a fully nude selfie on Instagram with just two minuscule black bars covering her goods.

Now. This is not going to be some bashing of Ms. Kardashian West. Frankly, she’s like cilantro: you either love her or you hate her.

I, however, am in the indifferent camp. I frankly don’t care one way or the other about her or her shenanigans.

So I’m not here to attack her.

But, this photo has caused quite the stir. I mean, even the great Bette Midler has chimed in with disapproval.

Personally, I wasn’t surprised. (Let’s remember how she got her fame…

Have to conduct “a re-reading [of the Gospel] inclusive of the new data…”

Giuseppe Tanzella-Nitti

Christians will not immediately need to renounce their faith in God “simply on the basis of the reception of [this] new, unexpected information of a religious character from extraterrestrial civilizations.” However, once the “religious content” originating from outside the earth “has been verified” they will have to conduct “a re-reading [of the Gospel] inclusive of the new data…”

I am making all things new [Revelation 21:5-8]

The one sitting on the throne said, “See, I am making all things new!” He said, “Write this: ‘These words are trustworthy and true.'” Then he told me, “It has happened! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. I will freely give a drink from the spring of the water of life to the one who is thirsty. The person who conquers will inherit these things. I will be his God, and he will be my son. But people who are cowardly, unfaithful, detestable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars will find themselves in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur. This is the second death.”
[Revelation 21:5-8]

Yahweh declares

“For my people are foolish, they don’t know me. They’re stupid children, they have no understanding.

They’re skilled at doing evil, but how to do good, they don’t know.” [Jeremiah 4:22]
